Wat'krum Welfare Group is a community rooted in the rich heritage of the GOE area, also known as Yimbo in Siaya County. Founded in 2010 by a group of young relatives in their early twenties, who met for the first time and sought to strengthen family ties, the welfare group has grown from 10 founding members to a thriving global community of 30. Our name, Wat'krum, combines the Luo words Wat (Relations), Ok (Never), and Rum (Ends), symbolizing our commitment to unbreakable bonds of kinship.
Our membership is open to individuals tracing their ancestry to GOE through either parent, along with their spouses, fostering inclusivity and unity. Registered with the Registrar of Societies in Kenya, Wat'krum Welfare Group extends its reach to members worldwide, from Kenya to Dubai and the USA.
We promote the welfare of our members and their families by organizing activities such as family visits, celebrating life milestones, mentoring the younger generation, and planning group events and vacations. Additionally, we engage in collective initiatives like land acquisition and partner closely with the Kodonya Welfare Group, which includes the parents of our founding members, to preserve our shared heritage and values.
To nurture and strengthen the bonds of kinship, promote mutual support, and empower future generations within the Wat'krum family through collaborative initiatives and meaningful connections.
To be a global model of unity and togetherness, creating lasting legacies that honor our heritage, celebrate our milestones, and inspire future generations.
